Foucault's Theory Of Dominant Technology

Foucault philosophy has always paid attention to the subject matter.His concept of subject is different from the ontological subject in traditional philosophy,but emphasizes the "moldable" of the subject.Foucault constructed his own positivism subject by describing how to model the subject.Because Foucault's thoughts have obvious differences in the period before and after,and in many of his expositions,only the book "The History of Sexuality" deals with the subject shaping theory of the two periods.Therefore,this article chooses the text as the basis for analysis.We can refer Foucault's method of constructing the subject collectively as "domination technology",which is divided into two major parts based on different ways of solving the subject matter.The part concerning the relationship between the subject and the other is called"power technology," and the relationship between the subject and self is called "self technology.""Power technology" originated from Foucault's rejection of the traditional"repression model." By refuting Freud,Marcuse,and Reich's theory of power,he constructed a theory of discourse,knowledge,and power to shape the subject."Power technology" is expressed in the field of sexual experience as the incitement and reproduction of sexual discourse.Through the establishment of scientific truth discourse,and with the aid of social medical systems,power institutions,educational institutions,etc.The concept of "sexuality" is expanded to "sexual mechanism",relied on a variety of forces to shape the subject of sexual experience.Then Christianity developed it as a special "le pouvoir pastoral",managing the human body on the premise that the individual obeys the priest.The modern society transformed this governance of Christianity into a kind of "biopolitics" based on liberalism,and achieved governance of the country by regulating "population".In general,the "power technology" theory is actually a set of technical means developed by Foucault to solve the relationship between the subject and others based on a review of social history."Self technology" comes from Foucault's reflection on the relationship between subject and self.He started from the practice of self-concern in the sexual experience field in the ancient Greek era,re-examined the role of individuals in their activities of constructing themselves as subjects.In the ancient Greek period,"self technology" was embodied as a kind of survival aesthetics for the purpose of morality."Self technology"is essentially Foucault's use of the spirit of Enlightenment.Behind Foucault's "domination technique" theory is his deconstruction of traditional subject concepts.He does not admit the essentialist subject,but regards the subject as a dynamic product derived from specific experience activities.This view is embodied in Foucault's entire philosophy.
