The English language curriculum standard(2017)clearly states:"The basic goal of the basic education stage is to develop students' comprehensive language skills.The formation of comprehensive language skills is based on language skills,language knowledge,emotional attitudes,learning strategies and cultural awareness.The cultivation of cross-cultural awareness is closely related to the cross-cultural consciousness of teachers,but because of the influence of other factors such as environment and society,in some areas of our country,English Teachers'cross-cultural awareness has not been given enough attention,and teachers cross-cultural awareness is weak.Therefore,it is also necessary to cultivate the cross-cultural consciousness of English teachers in rural middle schools.Based on the theories of social linguistics and intercultural communication,this essay designs a questionnaire aiming at the level of cross-cultural awareness among junior middle school teachers in China in accordance with the requirements of the new curriculum standards for cross-cultural awareness and the quality of teachers.In order to investigate the current status of the junior high school English teachers cross-cultural awareness,a suevey was conducted which involves cultural knowledge,intercultural communication behavior and cross-cultural sensitivity.On the one hand,we can understand the junior middle school teachers 'intercultural English level and on the other hand,we can analyze the factors that influence junior middle school teachers' English cross-cultural awareness.The survey shows that junior middle school English teachers are generally less aware of cross-cultural awareness,and that cross-cultural communication awareness and cross-cultural communication skills need to be improved.The reasons mainly include the external reasons,such as the internal reasons of teachers' neglect of cross-cultural awareness cultivation,the negative influence of the negative transfer of their mother tongue,the educational environment of the school and the teachers' own cultural qualities.Based on the various factors that affect the cross-cultural awareness of junior middle school English teachers,this paper puts forward corresponding training principles and strategies:establishing a good cultural concept,strengthening the English teachers' understanding of intercultural communication,enhancing intercultural communication awareness through skill enhancement,attaching great importance to the development of English teachers,and improving on-the-job training system for English teachers.
