Exploration the possible mechanism through which genes interact with environmental factors contributing to creativity has been a leading issue in creativity study.TPH1 gene is important to creativity,but the research results were not consistent.That may be because of the interaction of TPH1 gene and environment,and parenting style may be an important environment factor.However,there are two major problems and challenges in the current application of creative G × E research.One is the genetic effect.There have been many studies on the use of single polymorphic candidate genes and environmental interaction analysis methods.However,such statistical analysis often faces the problem of low power.At present,researchers have tended to examine the interaction between genes and the environment in terms of polygentic scores.Second,it is the determination of specific gene-environment interaction model.The determination method of the traditional gene-environment interaction mode is simple slope test,and it is difficult to accurately determine the different types of gene-environment interaction model.Recently,Roisman et al.(2012)proposed a more rigorous test method – regions of significance(RoS),which has obtained the widespread application of researchers in other fields.In view of this,the present study used 412 healthy Chinese Han population undergraduates,and five TPH1 polymorphisms were investigated.First,we used the traditional regression analysis method to explore TPH1 polymorphisms which associated with creativity.Then,we examined the interaction effects of TPH1 genes(polygentic scores)and different dimensions of parenting styles on the creativity.At last,we used Regions of Significance(RoS)method to further test the interaction model.The main research conclusions were as follows:(1)Significant TPH1 genes by parenting styles interactions were found for creativity.(2)The model of the interaction between the TPH1 and mother authoritarianism on the flexibility support for the diathesis-stress model,and the model of the interaction between the TPH1 and mother authoritarianism on the originality support for the differential susceptibility hypothesis.
