The instruction of English culture in secondary schools has always been an easily overlooked part by English teachers.Traditional instruction lays stress on the teaching of linguistic knowledge,including pronunciation,vocabulary,grammar and sentence patterns.In recent years,more and more importance has been attached to the significance of culture teaching.The textbook of new junior high school students,New Target also covers more English content and even more native cultural content,striving to "cultural infiltration".Evolving around this concern,this article aims to comprehensively analyze the question existing in the culture teaching,and use the group study pattern to promote English teaching through empirical research method and literature method.For a long time,the large class pattern and centralism teaching method have dominated traditional instruction,which restricted the development of students'personality and even killed their interests in learning due to the lack of concerning of individual differences.As for the linguistic discipline,the establishment of communicative atmosphere seems more important.Traditional instruction mode did not provide enough training opportunities for students to improve their language ability.While,the use of group cooperative teaching method makes a difference.It divides the class into several groups of 4-6 people.Students learn language through cooperation and competition on a small scale,which will enhance their interests in learning and sense of cooperation.Referring to various literatures,the author found that the researches on group learning and culture teaching are relatively new and numerous,but the researches on combination of culture teaching and group learning are rare.With a rigorous attitude,the author will investigate from the reality,perorate from theoretical refinement,prove from precise thinking and aim to develop a scientific study of team learning and foreign culture teaching by combining theory with practice,which will provide a reference for the majority of English instructors.By adopting the method of combination of theoretical analysis and empirical research,I will use the method of comparison,analysis,exemplification and induction to verify whether the strategy is feasible,and the degree to which it can promote and improve teaching according to the specific teaching experiment launched at my working place.In the field of theoretical research,I will mainly adopt the literature method.Through investigation and research,it is considered that the teaching of cultural specific items is necessary and important in English instruction,while it is of different practical significance for students of different learning levels.For the students with a good English foundation in practice,teachers can expand more culture specific items.While,for the students who are comparatively poor in English,teachers should also consolidate and implement language points.It makes no sense to have one without another.At the same time,teachers should pay attention to the accumulation of their own cultural language,and improve their own cultural accomplishment,ensuring the correctness and accuracy of instruction.
