This thesis,based on the theories of Constructivism and the Input Hypothesis,elaborates the teaching practice of English Movie Appreciation Course of school-based curriculum in senior high school.The research is focused on how to set up the English Movie Appreciation Course,stimulate students'interest and enthusiasm for learning English,infiltrate cross-culture awareness,and improve the listening,speaking,reading,writing abilities and so on.An experiment was carried out in an ordinary senior high where the author works.First of all,a large number of literature materials have been collected and related research results have been summarized to ensure the feasibility of the research.Through the questionnaires and interviews,the teachers'and students'attitude to the English Movie Appreciation Course was studied,which became the foundation for the implementation of the course.According to the results of the survey,the selection of teaching materials,the model of teaching,the extension after curriculum and other curriculum elements of the English Movie Appreciation Course were studied.Combined with the characteristics of the students,scientific and effective teaching procedure was designed to provide reference for further development of English Movie Appreciation Course.In a semester's time,16 lessons of English Movie Appreciation Course are given to 120 students.The results shows that in ordinary high school,English Movie Appreciation Course is a good complement to English teaching,and it can arouse students'interest in learning English,and then improve the students'English level.First,the course can consolidate and deepen the knowledge learned in class,expand and supplement textbooks,making the students have a deeper understanding of what they have learned or what they are to learn,better improving their Language skills and cultural knowledge.Second,the course offers a large number of corpuses that other English courses do not have,creating a practical language atmosphere for students.Third,vivid materials stimulate students'interest in learning English.Rich cultural knowledge makes students think more actively,broadens their knowledge and widens their horizon.The interesting language training enhances the students'confidence and fully develops the students' foreign language quality.The students who attended the course were more willing to express themselves in English.Fourth,through the appreciation of many film and television works,students cultivate their ability to feel and discover the world.The course improves the students'cultural literacy and appreciation ability.At last,the author gives schools and teachers some suggestions.The author suggests that the schools should emphasis on teacher's training and make the best of the internet resources;the teachers should reform the teaching mode and methods,cogitate about the essence of language and improve their own literacy.
