The 21st century witnesses how the soaring development of information technology influences peoples' life and learning.In the education circle,the micro course,which is born in the network era,has a profound influence on education and provides a new way of thinking for the reform of teaching methodology.For the visually impaired students,the Internet has also brought great changes to their life and learning.Their world is no longer closed and narrow.Through the Internet,they have established connections with the world.The development of the era calls for the change of the monotonous and traditional teaching methods for the visually impaired students.Instead,it should meet the requirements of visually impaired students in the new era,and information technology should be integrated into teaching.Based on this educational belief,this paper explores the use and effect of micro lesson.In this paper,micro-course is defined as "a kind of learning resource which is carefully designed,with clear teaching objectives,made for a certain knowledge point or teaching procedure,used on streaming media,supplemented by micro exercises and other resources,and can be used not only for formal learning in class,but also for informal learning after class".In brief,micro-course includes both video resources and audio resources.Based on constructivism learning theory,situational learning theory,audio-visual education theory,the visually impaired students defect compensation education theory,and considering vocational students and the English teaching environment for the blind,this paper formulates the principles for making a micro-course for the visually impaired students,and expounds the steps and methods of micro course design and making.In order to explain the problem better,this paper presents the key for micro-course design,i.e micro-lesson teaching design and the script for making micro course.Besides,it discusses how to apply the micro course into actual teaching.Then,the author conducts a teaching experiment.By comparing the students' achievements of experiment group and control group,as well as analyzing the questionnaire finished by experiment group,it is found that micro-course plays a great role in promoting the English teaching in vocational school for the blind.It is proved feasible and effective to use micro course in the English teaching in schools for the blind.It is hoped that the application of micro class in visual impairment education can get more attention and development.
