The Implement Imagination And Scientific Thoughts In Science Fiction During The Late Qing Dynasty

Literature in Late Qing Dynasty is a boom under the impact of traditional and western culture at century end and became 'modernity period 'with complex perfection on 'mix of old and new culture Sound more complex righteousness'.Being an important branch of Literature in Late Qing Dynasty,Science fiction was all the fashion at that time.Science fiction in Late Qing Dynasty fully embodied 'Novelty' from fusion of Chinese and western.The fictions also reflected hopes and anxieties from people in Late Qing Dynasty about complicated social situation and uncertain destiny.Political fable and racial myth of the period even gave a silent transforming influence of literary creation after the May 4th Movement.On the side of literary researches,even the artistic achievement is up to the average,development history and scientific fantasy details in the fiction is still the literature phenomenon that is important and worth studying.Exploration on intellectual background,acceptation and acknowledgement of foreign concept 'science' will contribute to clarify the critical period for a change in China's modernization,modern scientific spirit,Rational spirit and Chinese traditional aesthetic consciousness values of conflict and fusion,can judge the era significance brought by this literary phenomenon.This paper aims at starting with the image of implements from science fiction using research methods like close reading,combine with related theory from western science fiction to analyze gambling of science and metaphysics in and outside texts.Summarizes successes and failures of the entering of scientific thinking in late Qing dynasty's,reveal the differences between Chinese and western way of thinking is exactly the reason of science fiction declined in Late Qing Dynasty.
