Open Educational Resources Movement is an important global trend of educational development in the era of educational globalization and informatization.MOOCs(Massive Open Online Courses),a new educational model,appeared in the field of Open Education in 2008.Its appearance provides a new mode of knowledge dissemination and learning,which enables students from different universities to share educational resources of other universities and improve learning quality.Furthermore,it is significant in promoting the development of continuing education and creating an open life-long learning system.This paper is a report on the translation of the article "Educational Design for MOOCs:Design Considerations for Technology-supported Learning at Large Scale",excerpted from the book Open Education:from OERs to MOOCs,published by Springer in 2017.The text is a professional academic writing which focuses on the educational design for MOOCs.After analyzing the style and language features of the source text,the translator adopted Verschueren's Adaptation theory as the guiding theory and successfully finished this translation project.In this report,the author firstly gives an introduction of the translation task which includes the introduction and analysis of the source text as well as the practical significance of the project;secondly describes the translation procedures,including the preparation before translation,implementation of the translation plan,and alteration after translation;thirdly describes Verschueren's Adaptation Theory and analyzes adaptation in academic writings;and then analyzes the translation methods adopted under the guideline of the Adaptation Theory from three aspects:the contextual correlates of adaptability,structural objects of adaptability and salience of adaptability.The translation techniques discussed include:choice of word meanings,inverse translation,nominalization of verbs,supplementation and omission,division and synthesization,conversion of voice and so on.Lastly the author summarizes what she has learned and what remains to be solved in this translation project.
