| Illustrating a vehicle’s performance,providing maintenance instructions and describing the main functions of a vehicle are the functions of a user manual.As an instruction for users,the user manual is directly related to many vital issues,such as the product’s life cycle,efficiency and physical security.With the rapid development of auto industry,more and more auto joint ventures are localizing the process of research and development,production and sales by introducing advanced foreign models and cutting-edge technologies.As a result,translation work in auto industry draws more attention.Therefore,the study of E-C translation of vehicle user manual has great practical value.During her internship,the author has translated three chapters of HY C500 USER MANUAL,based on which this report is completed.The report consists of five chapters:Chapter one briefly introduces the background and structure of this report.Chapter two describes the project’s background and the translation process.Chapter three mainly analyzes the difficulties during the translation process and the characteristics of the user manual from the perspective of vocabulary and sentence.Chapter four offers the solution to the difficulties.The solution concerns two parts with specified examples,including word transformation,omission of verbs,imperative expressions,passive voice,literal translation,inverse translation and division.Chapter five gives conclusions and recommendations of this E-C user manual translation for further study. |
