| This report aims to study the application of Trados on translating vehicle&machinery sci-tech texts and its function on improving translation quality and efficiency.Due to the wide variety of vehicle&machinery sci-tech texts and its clear target readers,translators need to ensure not only the accuracy,consistency and professionalism of the target text,but also its"timeliness".However,in this case,traditional translation methods have been unalble to meet the translation needs of this kind of professional technical documents.With the continuous optimization of the translation market and the rapid development of translation technology,Trados has become an indispensable tool for professional technical document translation.During the internship in Xi’an Ruien Translation Co.,Ltd,it was the author’s great honor to be entrusted by BYD Auto Industry Co.,Ltd to undertake parts of the translation project of BYD K7M SONOMA Bus User’s Manual With the help of Trados,the author collaborated with colleagues,translated more than 50,000 words of the source text,and wrote the report.Based on Trados,the author uses Newmark’s communicative trans ation theory in this translation practice to explore translation strategies for solving translation problems of multiple professional terms,long and complex sentences,discourse cohesion and conformity encountered in the translation process using descriptive and case study methods through comparative analysis of Chinese and English language.Luckily,after completing the report,the author probed into the vehicle machinery translation deeply and applied translation memory and translation strategies like literal translation,conversion,amplification,omission,restructuring,division and combination,and conversion of passive and active voice to reached the goal of improving the translation quality and efficiency.Hopefully,this report can provide help for MTI maj ors or those who tries to learn the translation of vehicle and machinery text. |
