The Study On Wechat Chat Language From The Perspective Of Sociolinguistics

With the continuous progress of society and the continuous improvement of science and technology,WeChat has been widely integrated into people's daily livesand has became one of the most popular instant messaging tools,it not only changed people's live-style,but also influenced people's language usage mode to a certain extent.The language transmission mode represented by WeChat has caused a wave of"WeChat language" with its style,which is unique and different from traditional language communications.WeChat chat language as an important tool for people to communicate in WeChat,has its own characteristics and research value.In this paper,the text conversation in WeChat is used as the research object,according to the existing research results and based on the traditional daily communication conversations,the paper uses contrast analysis method,qualitative and quantitative analysis,case analysis and questionnaire survey method,and makes a concrete analysis of Wechat chat language from three aspects:register,turn-taking and code-switching which belong to the angle of sociolinguistics,and summarizes the characteristics and usage rules of WeChat chat language.WeChat chat language is mainly represented by WeChat voice and WeChat text,and its auxiliary communication tools are diverse,including symbols(punctuation and emoticon),pictures and videos.In order to adapt to the fast pace of social lives,communicators tend to choose short characters or words to communicate,thus the expression of WeChat chat language is concise and clear;at the same time,because WeChat communication has the characteristics of immediacy and interactivity,WeChat chat language is written in the form of written language,but it has obvious oral features.Nowadays,using WeChat communication has become a common social phenomenon,language and society are closely linked,so observing the WeChat chat language from the perspective of social linguistics,we can find that WeChat chat language because of influenced by different social factors and presents the different side from the traditional daily communication.This paper mainly studies from the following three aspects:using relevant theories of the register to study the field of discourse,the mode of discourse and the tenor of discourse in Wechat chat language;using relevant theories of the turn-taking to study the turn-taking organization and the turn-taking systems in Wechat chat language;from the perspective of code-switching,this paper mainly summarizes the code-switching types of Wechat chat language and its using motivation.In addition,this paper also investigates the using frequency,motivation and user's attitude of three kinds of code-switching in WeChat chat language through questionnaire survey method,most communicators think that the code-switching phenomenon in WeChat chat is a normal linguistic phenomenon.
