The Study Of Toponym Characters In Grand Chinese Dictionary (the Second Edition)

The toponym reflects the process of human understanding,utilization and alteration about physical geography and human geography.China has a vast territory and various dialects.So the same type of toponym always has different names in different areas,which makes the place names in China more and more complex.In these characters of toponym,there are quite a few characters' pronunciations and meanings are unknown to us,which deserves our exploration and excavation.The article takes Grand Chinese Dictionary(the Second Edition)as the source of corpus,classified characters in dictionary by meaning,and explored the ralationship between the character and the toponym.The full paper is divided into six parts: the first part is introduction,which introduced the current research status of the toponym character and the exploration about Grand Chinese Dictionary(the Second Edition),and put forward the research significance,contents and methods of the article.The second part classified statistics about characters collected in Grand Chinese Dictionary(the Second Edition).The third part is an exploration of toponym characters from the perspective of synonymy.The forth part analyzed the pronunciation and meaning about toponym characters.In the fifth part,there are some suggerstions for Grand Chinese Dictionary(the Second Edition)from the view of toponym.The last part is the conclusion,reviewed and concluded the full paper,and put forward the author's suggestions on the using standard of the toponym characters.The ideas of previous articles analyzed from the toponym to the character,but this paper is in an opposite way.Hoping to get further exploration about the pronunciation and meaning of some toponym characters in Grand Chinese Dictionary(the Second Edition)by doing classification and arrangement of these related characters.Learning the academic achievements of the predecessors,meanwhile,it is expected to make some contribution to the study of toponym characters.
