Suzhou Municipal Tax Collection Office is a road administration construction and management appeared in 1920s.It was born under the background of the rise of local autonomy and popular urban municipal construction in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.It not only marks the integration of municipal construction functions,but also suggests that the local autonomy of Suzhou gradually turns to official governance.Suzhou Municipal Tax Collection Office can be divided into two periods in 1926.The parties because candidate odds,seriously affected the normal development of the executive;the latter through restructuring,to balance the interests of all parties,and the appropriate candidates for the board of directors,the executive order has achieved fruitful results.After the Northern Expeditionary Army entered Suzhou in 1927,Suzhou Municipal Tax Collection Office was taken over by the Traffic Bureau of the Provisional Administrative Committee of Wuxian.During the operation of Suzhou Municipal Tax Collection Office,through the collaboration with Wu County Administration,Suzhou Police Agency,Suzhou Civic Commune and other institutional groups,it has made a great contribution in such aspects as the reorganization of donations,the improvement of road administration,the requisition of funds,the establishment of rules.In addition to the obvious achievements in the field of municipal construction,the clear rules,equality consciousness and transparent financial system of Suzhou Municipal Tax Collection Office,these have directly affected the ordinary people of Suzhou at that time,thus promoting the Suzhou modernization process,it can be seen as a harbinger of urbanization in Suzhou.
