It is a translation practice report based on the translation practice of Shakespeare 's English Kings(chapter ?,? and ?)written by Peter Saccio.Shakespeare's English Kings is intended as background reading for Shakespeare's ten history plays and is divided into 9 chapters.It aims to provide a brief coherent account of English history in the reigns concerned,concentrating on the per-sons and the issues that Shakespeare dramatized,so that the playgoers and scholars of Shakespeare's history can better understand and enjoy them.And it may also be helpful for the readers who want to learn something about English history.As a background information text about English history,the book is full of historical figures and anecdotes about politics,economy,culture and military affairs presented by the writing habits of English language.All those bring the translator a lot of translation difficulties.Practice is always to some extent guided by related theories.The translator has Hans Vermeer's Skopos Theory as her translation theory to adopt translation strategies for a better translation.The report is divided into the following 5 parts.The first part is the task description including the background information and features of the book as well as the significance of its translation.The second part is the description of the translation process which contains the preparation before translation,process of translation and post-translation work.The third part introduces the guiding theory,Skopos Theory,which contains its introduction and relevant rules as well as the application to translation practice.The fourth part has the cases study and the translation strategies adopted under the guidance of the Skopos Theory.The fifth part gives a conclusion including the problems found during the translation practice as well as the inspiration and expectations for the future work and study.
