This paper is a translation practice report. In 2019,I translated The Norton Shakespeare(General Introduction Excerpt)with the help and guidance of my supervisor. This paper consists of two parts, one is the Source Text and the Target Text of The Norton Shakespeare(General Introduction Excerpt),the other is a practice report on the whole process of translation. The general editor of The Norton Shakespeare is Stephen Greenblatt who was born in 1943.He is a researcher, historian, writer and professor of Harvard University.Based on the Oxford Edition, the book has edited and annotated all Shakespeare's works. My translation is excerpted from General Introduction of the book.In General Introduction, editor Stephen Greenblatt describes the social features of England in Shakespeare's time.In the process of translation,I carry out translation practice mainly under the guidance of Skopos theory.I hope to increase the acquisition of knowledge of English literature and improve my translation ability by translating this book.More importantly,I hope to introduce foreign research and comments on Shakespeare to promote the development of domestic research.I hope that by writing a translation practice report,I will clarify the overall translation ideas, summarize the problems and strategies in translation, and summarize the experience of theory guiding practice,so as to further improve the ability of combining theory with practice in the future, and at the same time to produce reference value for other translation work, especially for the translation of academic research texts of the same type.
