In China,teachers' professional development has been a heated topic all the time.With the implementation of English curriculum reform of elementary education,both society and schools propose higher requirements for English teachers.In addition,under the background of educational informatization,micro lectures arise as the combination of modern educational techniques with ideas.There is a close relationship between junior middle school English teachers' professional development and the micro lecture teaching,namely,the application of micro lectures acts as a new approach to the improvement of teachers' professional development.Micro lecture teaching can enrich the theory of junior middle school English teachers' professional development.And the teaching practice of micro lectures can be optimized by the guidance of teachers' professional development.Therefore,by means of both quantitative and qualitative analysis,this thesis investigates the current situation of the application of micro lectures in English classes in junior middle school,digs out problems in the application of micro lectures and puts forward relevant suggestions on the basis of teachers'professional development.The study attempts to answer the following three questions:(1)What are the requirements to the application of micro lecture in junior middle school based on teachers' professional development?(2)What is the current situation and influence of the application of English micro lectures in junior middle school?(3)What are the external and internal factors affecting junior middle school English teachers to use micro lectures?The results of the study are as follows:Firstly,based on teachers' professional development,several requirements are put forward to junior middle school English teachers as follows:teachers are required to hold active attitude towards micro lecture teaching;teachers are required to grasp more professional knowledge about concepts,traits and methods of the application of micro lectures;teachers are required to improve their abilities of designing,making and applying micro lectures in teaching.Secondly,it is found that the current situation of applying micro lectures in junior middle school is far from good,and just few teachers apply micro lectures in teaching.The micro lecture teaching can improve teaching efficiency,enrich teaching resource,motivate students' interest in English,and improve students' scores.Furthermore,the application of micro lectures in teaching can improve teachers' professional development.Thirdly,the external factor affecting the micro lecture teaching is the disorderly and unsystematic platform of micro lecture resource and the negative conditions of micro lecture teaching in schools.Internally,teachers are lack of interest,understanding and abilities of using micro lectures in micro lecture teaching.What's more,the author tries to offer some suggestions to improve micro lecture teaching based on teachers' professional development:perfecting the co-construction and sharing platform of micro lectures;optimizing environmental conditions of schools;promoting teachers' teaching abilities of using micro lectures flexibly.
