The translation report involves two English mystery fictions: Princess Anne and DeKok and the Hammer Blow.The first one,written by Jim Allyn(an American mystery novelist),shared the story about a policeman,named Jim Howard,who caught a psychotic serial killer;the other one,published by Albert Cornelis Baantjer(a celebrated Dutch writer),demonstrated a murder case that a woman utilized a hammer to kill her husband.This report is divided into five sections.Task Description introduces the background and significance of translation,as well as provides a brief introduction about two novels.As the summary of the translation process,Process Description illustrates the reparation of translation,the first draft of translation material and the revision process,and more importantly,mentions difficulties in translation,especially the dialogue translation.Conversational Implicature Theory and Its Application in Translation will be introduced in the third chapter.Chapter 4 is A Case Study on Dialogue Translation,which will analyze the application of conversational implicature theory in the process of novel translation from two different aspects: the compliance of cooperative principles and violation of cooperative principles and apply the case study to conduct meticulous research.In Conclusion,the first part is a summary of the whole report,the other one is the deficiency of this translation report. |
