Interest in English learning,as an intrinsic motivation for students to learn English,plays an important role in the process of English learning.With the development of the internationalization process,English has become an important second language,and the requirements for English proficiency are also increasing in all walks of life.English curriculum standards also require teachers to pay attention to the cultivation of students' interest in English learning.However,due to the influence of exam oriented education,rural junior middle school English teaching still stays in the traditional teaching stage,students learn English knowledge passively,and English classroom atmosphere is dull.The purpose of this study is to understand the current situation and existing problems of rural junior middle school students' interest in English learning,and explore strategies to improve rural junior middle school students' interest in English learning.This study uses "rural junior middle school students' English Learning Interest Questionnaire" as the research tool and selects 1085 rural junior school studnets from three cities of Henan Province as the research object.Also by combining with interviews,finally,it is concluded that the interest of rural middle school students in English learning varies with grade,gender,parents' education degree,achievement and so on..Through further analysis found that the problems of rural junior middle school students' interest in English learning mainly lies in:(1)The overall interest level of rural junior middle school students is not high,and the development of all dimensions is not balanced.(2)Rural junior middle students' interest in English learning still needs to be improved in two aspects of knowledge and application.(3)The level of interest of students in Grade Eight needs to be improved.(4)The male students' interest in English learning is not strong.(5)The interest level of students with low parents' degree of education is not high.(6)The interest in English learning of the students who fail to pass the exams is low.Further analysis found that the reasons for the interest of rural middle school students in English learning were as follows: students lack of correct English learning values,lack of self-confidence,lack of scientific learning methods and learning habits and personal objective factors;teachers' teaching methods are single,lack of classroom situation building consciousness,and the relationship between teachers and students is not coordinated.the evaluation system is not perfect and the professional literacy of some rural English teachers is not high;the basic facilities of schools are poor,the teachers' team is weak,the surrounding environment is influenced,and rural schools don't organize the corresponding English activities;parents are less likely to receive education,children are not encouraged and concerned in the English learning by their parents,what's more,some less educated parents lack of material support to children's English learning.Based on the above analysis,the following measures are put forward to improve the interest of English learning in rural junior middle school students: students should attribute correctly and rationally,build up their confidence,master scientific learning methods and better study habits and set up correct English learning values;teachers should build a harmonious relationship between teachers and students,improve their own quality and create a good learning atmosphere,evaluate and motivate students properly,and use a variety of teaching methods to stimulate students' interest in English learning;schools should strengthen the construction of the hardware facilities and the construction of the teaching staff,and carry out the rich and interesting activities to improve students' interest in English learning.Parents need to focus on studnets' s English learning,create a better learning environment,strengthen communication with children,pay attention to children's growth needs,and strengthen communication with teachers.
