As interest is a kind of positive emotion as well as an internal dynamic factor,keen interest could not only stimulate students' desires for knowledge but promote them to tenaciously struggle and study hard.Conversely,learning with no interest is always passive indeed,from which the students would have poor learning effects,distractibility and unsatisfactory achievements.For middle school students in Tibet,English is the third language other than mother language and Chinese.Most students feel extremely difficult during English learning and English has become a challenge during their learning in middle school since they are not interested in English learning.Especially after the significant adjustment of English performance in junior middle school entrance examination of Tibet in 2015,the English score was changed to 15 from 50 originally,which made pupils less interested in English learning.Consequently,difficulties and pressure when learning English remain when primary students are admitted by junior high school.In this paper,both impacts and changes of personal and environmental factors produced by learning interest to junior school students in Tibet were investigated,aiming to actively impel the English teaching and learning of junior school students in Tibet.For them,there are various reasons for lack of interests in English learning,all of which interact with each other under certain conditions rather than being independent.The reasons why junior school students lack interests in English learning were discussed in this paper based on my own teaching status.Questionnaire and interview were adopted as the methodology.The form of choice question was applied for questionnaire to collect data,and mainly investigate students' attitudes towards English learning and additionally corresponding reasons and countermeasures.Both Naidong Middle School and Donghui Middle School were researched,totally 200 questionnaires were provided and the students' attitudes and opinions to English learning could be observed from questionnaires filled out by students from different grades and schools,through which the reasons that affected interests of junior school students in English learning could be discovered,as well as various factors in learning.All these are expected to offer significant learning reference for teachers and students,and moreover effective support to English teaching.From the questionnaires collected from two typical schools,the following conclusion could be obtained.The reasons why junior school students in Tibet lacked interests in English learning included:1.Factors in terms of language and learning environments.2.Teachers' teaching methods and students' learning methods.3.Students'undefined learning objectives.4.Factors in terms of family.Meanwhile,the specific strategies were also put forward correspondingly.This investigation is of great significance as investigation on the interest of the junior school students in Tibet in English could help us positively understand the general English learning situation of junior school students in Tibet,so as to further verify the impact of interest on learning,improve the existing teaching methods,and besides seek for and grasp the English teaching models more suitable for students.It plays an essential role in improving the quality of fundamental English teaching in minority regions.
