Reading is a process of cooperation between eyes and brain and reading is also a process of selection,so the readers can choose more useful information to enrich their brain,reading is also a dialogue between reader and author,the reader can learn from valuable knowledge and absorb them,what's more,the reading method also takes up the main role,because reading method contributes to arouse student's reading interest.So the author wants to know that weather lexical chunks can help students to improve their reading ability and arouse their reading interest.This research aims to make an experiment in English reading teaching,the author wants to find these answers to questions.First,what's the situation of the English reading in Class four Grade two and Class six of Lanzhou No.2 Secondary School.Second,how does lexical chunks approach improve the senior high school student English reading ability? Third,how does lexical chunks approach arouse the senior high school students' English reading confidence? During this experiment,two parallel classes are chose by author in Lanzhou No.2 Secondary School,including 96 students regarded as subjects.The whole experiment is carried out lasted four mouths.One class is the experimental class that all students learn to how to do English reading by lexical chunks,and the other is controlled class that all students learn to do English reading in traditional way.After this experiment,the author collects all the information to analyze and discuss these data with the tool of SPSS.The findings of the research are as follows: before the experiment,most of students don't know how to have a good knowledge of English reading and they don't have the good methods,so they spend more time on English reading and they are not fond of the English reading.That is to say.This is a situation of English reading in Class four Grade two and Class six in Lanzhou No.2 Secondary School before experiment,and then the experimental class students are more superiority than the controlled class in English reading,these students have improved their English reading ability and have aroused their English reading interest.The large number of students in the experimental class is willing to do reading;they want to find joy in the process of English reading.The application of lexical chunks to English reading contributes to broadening their vocabulary and enhancing the sense of language.
