English reading is an essential part of English Teaching in our country.Almost any English test has reading comprehension questions.However,the facts show that there are many problems in the process of reading.For secondary vocational school students,English reading is very difficult.How to cultivate students' reading ability in the process of foreign language teaching is a hot topic for English teachers.A large number of experimental studies show that lexical chunks and language acquisition theory have a positive effect on English reading teaching.Based on this,this thesis attempts to apply lexical chunks to the English reading teaching in a secondary vocational school.By providing a large number of reading materials containing lexical chunks,students can learn,practice,use and consolidate lexical chunks,so as to improve students' English reading ability and students' interest in English reading.This research adopts the questionnaire method,experimental method and the interview method.A total of 100 students from two classes of grade 17 in a secondary vocational school in Shenyang were studied.In the 12 week teaching experiment,one class is the experimental class(EC),and the other class is the control class(CC).The purpose of this study is to explore the following two questions: 1.What is the effect of the application of lexical chunks in English Reading Teaching in secondary vocational school on students' reading ability? 2.What is the effect of the application of lexical chunks in English Reading Teaching in secondary vocational school on students' interest in English reading? In this thesis,pre-test and post-test,a questionnaire survey and an interview were conducted.Then collect the data of the questionnaire and input it into excel table for comparative analysis.In addition,the data of pre-test and post-test are input into the computer,and SPSS is used for comparative analysis and discussion.Before the experiment,there was no significant difference in reading comprehension between the EC and the CC.After the experiment,the reading comprehension score of the EC is significantly higher than that of the CC.Therefore,the conclusions are as follows: 1.The application of lexical chunks in English reading teaching helps students to improve English reading ability.The students in EC who adopt lexical chunks have made significant progress compared with the students in CC.2.Applying lexical chunks to English reading teaching in secondary vocational school is helpful to arouse students' reading enthusiasm and interest.Most of the students in EC have changed their reading habits and attitudes.
