Research Narrative Functions Of The Animation Scene Design

This thesis explores narrative functions of the animation scene design in animated films.It initially elaborates the role of narrative functions of the animation scene design and its effect on animated movies,defines the way how the animation scene design builds up the virtual time and space,and then explores the narrative rules of the animation scene design.Since diverse cultures and values have great influence on the design of animated scenes in animated films,the narration of the animation scene design reveals designers' world outlook and ideology while the style conveys their intention,implying the narrative of the movie theme.This research works on a case study of some European,American and Japanese animated films.Based on the analysis of the animation scene design including its time and space narration,marvelous and virtual narration and the creation of the atmosphere and mood narrative etc.,narrative functions of the animation scene design are discussed.
