In the new century,the forms of art presented have become more and more abundant.Mean while,the appearance of new media has changed the artistic environment and has exerted a profound influence on art.A variety of new creative ideas,new perspective,and new aesthetics were elicited,expanding the creative space for art.The black and white woodcuts has a long history.Its pure black-white relationship and creative techniques are the most unadorned patterns of expression in the print art.While inheriting traditional black and white woodcut techniques,the artist is also constantly innovating,expanding the possibilities of development,through different dimensions of media materials,creative ideas,and techniques,etc.The form of woodcuts has undergone tremendous changes from tradition to contemporary.Artists have begun to pay attention to the aesthetic value of ideological and conceptual expressions in works to expand the language of expression,and to explore the expression forms of woodcut contexts.In the contemporary era,black and white woodcuts are presenting in an unprecedented form of artistic vision,showing unlimited possibilities in limited languages,adding new images and new trends to black and white woodcuts art.This dissertation takes the contemporary black and white woodcut context as research clues.Firstly,it summarizes the research status at home and abroad,analyzes the composition of black and white woodcut contexts,After analyzing the transformation of black and white woodcut language in the contemporary context,it is concluded that contemporary black and white woodcut works should be unified within and beyond the language,and contemporary black and white woodcut creation needs to be considered in terms of form combination,concept expression and aesthetic demand.The three aspects are the embodiment of the basic not only of contemporary black and white woodcut creation,but also combine the theoretical with creative experience from research and elaborate the graduate work's creation process and practice result.
