With the development of economic globalization,more and more Chinese enterprises are trying to exploit international market.A Chinese company is intended to go abroad,not only for their own high-quality products and services,but also for some effective marketing measures.Company publicity material is the first step to make the Chinese company go abroad and is also the important medium to make foreign businessmen know Chinese company.So it is especially important for a company to have a high quality enterprise.A good translation is helpful for the target readers to acquire complete and effective information about companies;while incoherent and inaccurate translation will bring them vague,even wrong information,make them less interested in the products and service Chinese companies could provide,so as to result in the damage of company images.Therefore,we need to find a more applicable and more effective translation strategy,to reduce the misunderstanding of the target readers as much as possible and encourage the cooperation between Chinese and foreign countries in a real sense.This is a report on enterprise publicity materials translation practice which are selected from the translation project done by the author during internship in a translation company,which is Precision and Sincerity Creating Value—In Commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of Zhuzhou Cemented Carbide Group Co.,Ltd.The purpose of enterprise publicity material is to show the enterprise information and products to the target language readers.Owing to cultural difference between east and west,the English text readers have some barriers in understanding Chinese culture-loaded expressions.Thus,it is necessary to adopt some methods to transfer and illustrate such expressions.According to Skopos Theory,translation purpose determines the translation process,method and strategies.So the author adopts the functionalist theory--Skopos Theory to guide the translation practice and uses literal translation,literal translation combined with amplification,free translation,free translation with amplification,and combination to eliminate cultural barriers and attract target readers.
