A Project Report On The E-C Translation Of Energy Return On Investment

The development of science and technology facilitates the exchange between international academic researches.Energy Return on Investment,published by Springer International Publishing in January,2017,is one of the college lecture notes for students either with or without relevant disciplinary backgrounds.It covers fields of ecology,environment,economy and energy,etc.The author chooses Chapter 6 to Chapter 8-as the translated text to accomplish this project report.As a typical informative text,Energy Return on Investment is abundant with academic terms and knowledge.Under the guidance of Reiss' Text Typology and Newmark's communicative translation strategy,the author analyses major difficulties and corresponding causes at lexical level,syntactic level and discourse level.Then,a sequence of translation methods are put forward and illustrated with examples.In terms of terminology translation,the author adopts such methods as reference to conventionality,literal translation plus explanation,and content-determined translation.In dealing with long sentences,the author uses methods of embedding,reversing and splitting.Finally,from the perspectives of structural and non-structural cohesion,the author applies cohesive devices represented by reference and addition to achieve the discourse coherence.In the conclusion part,the author points out the shortcomings of this project report and also makes some recommendations for the translation of similar texts in the future.
