As a highly creative kind of book,picture book contains a large cultural treasure and development space.It combines graceful pictures with poetic texts,full of interesting stories,delicate emotions and rich philosophical thoughts.While animated film serves as a popular art to the masses,having rich expressiveness in storytelling,shouldering important functions such as entertainment and education,which has similar value targets to picture book in storyliness and artistry.It is necessary to care about art style and story space at early period of animated film creation,while many picture books served as excellent sub-drama scripts or blueprints.So,the cooperation between the two forms of art must promote each other.Lots of countries like America,Britain,Japan and France,have started researching the adaptation of picture books to animation works,many animated films recreated from picture books have created high entertainment value,cultural value and commercial value,which should not be underestimated.First of all,explaining what is picture book,and the difference between picture book and illustration and comic book from a conceptual level,as well as original resource advantages of picture books,then introducing domestic and foreign animation film adapted from the picture book,focusing on Dr.Seuss and his main works.Afterwards,elaborating the main points of the Gestalt psychology and the main theoretical principles of the Gestalt perception from the theoretical level,clearing the theoretical obstacles related to the research.Next,from four theoretical perspectives which are Visual Perceptual Form Gestalt Theory and Aesthetic Psychological Mechanism,Field Theory and Tension law,Heterogeneous Isomorphism Theory and Exchange Law,Holism and Balance,around four core issues including the relationship between animated films and original picture books,the nature of animated films,the relationship between picture books and readers,and the relationship between animated films and viewers,taking Dr.Seuss' s classic picture book Horton Hears a Who! and The Lorax,analyzing the important elements of the re-creation of picture books to animation films,such as role modeling,composition,lens movement,montage,color and light,trying to list the methodology and practical principles in the recreating process.Finally,summarizing four re-creation design methods of picture books to animated films: creatively reappears and develops images in visual thinking,inherits the structure of “forces” in picture books and expresses tensions of the film fully,understands the target audience's acceptance psychology,as well as set up a diverse and unified film structure,expecting to break through the research ideas which pay much more attention to form than mentality,and provide psychological support and guidelines in theory and practice for the adaption of picture books to animated films.
