English writing competency is a significant indicator,which reflects students' language application ability,playing a key role in English teaching.The composition correction is the weakest part for English teachers in teaching English.They generally feel that due to the stressful teaching time,it is rather difficult to timely and comprehensively make corrections and give responses in terms of students' writing.Meanwhile,to find how students correct errors is also hard,which in turn contributes to knowing students' repeated problems of language mistakes.Junior students,especially in the fundamental stage of English learning,are often affected by the negative transfer of their mother tongue,thus easily make mistakes in the aspects of vocabulary,grammar,as well as sentence structure.Therefore,it is of great significance to attract students' attention to their mistakes and correct them in time to avoid the fossilization of language mistakes.Pigai system is an automated scoring system for English writing based on the Internet.It can comment sentences,analyze the use of vocabulary and grammar,then accordingly give some revision suggestions.It works with data analysis,gives comprehensive and detailed modification and comments sentence by sentence in a fast way,conducive to teachers' knowing about students' correction.Therefore,based on Pigai,an experimental study focused on writing teaching in junior high school is carried out.Based on the English Curricular Standards of Compulsory Education(version 2011),the Output Hypothesis,Noticing Hypothesis and Formative Evaluation Theory.It builds a modification and feedback mode of junior school English writing based on Pigai and conducts a 13-week teaching experiment.The experiment has been made through conducting teaching experiment,questionnaire,interview,writing test and writing texts analysis on students of grade 9 in a middle school of Haikou,including making a comparison between 50 students from the experimental class and 52 ones from the controlled class in terms of students' learning attitude,writing quality and their approval degree for the modification and feedback.The result verified the following 3 hypotheses: 1.The modification and feedback mode based on Pigai can improve students' learning attitude toward English writing.2.The modification and feedback mode based on Pigai can improve students' writing quality especially in amount of writing,vocabulary and grammar.3.Students approved the modification and feedbackmode based on Pigai.The verification result showed the achievement of the mode and proved that Pigai could be an effective teaching tool of improving students' learning attitude and their writing quality.
