As a main channel of communication,spoken English plays an indispensable role in English teaching.In recent years,different kinds of English-learning APP spring up with the development of Internet.As for spoken learning,English Fun Dubbing is one of them with various video clips,providing multimodal input materials and extending spoken learning outside the classroom to promote output.Multimodal includes not only the verbal language but also the non-verbal language,such as images,music,colors,postures,subtitles and so on.Multimodal theory advocates that different symbol systems coordinate as the channel or media of communication.It has been applied to educational field,which focuses on the role of various senses as well as the non-verbal symbols in meaning transmission and knowledge construction.According to the phenomena that spoken English teaching lacks teachers and students'attention and there's no specific spoken class and textbook in senior high schools,this study tries to apply English Fun Dubbing to create multimodal spoken teaching modal in senior high schools.It aims to find out the following questions:1.Is there a change of students' attitude towards spoken English learning after the multimodal spoken teaching?2.Can the multimodal teaching model based on English Fun Dubbing improve student s' spoken proficiency?3.Which spoken aspect does the multimodal teaching model influence most,in terms of pronunciation&tone,language content and language accuracy?The thesis with an 18-week long empirical research for 85 subjects tries to prove the effectiveness of multimodal teaching modal on spoken proficiency.The subjects are chosen from two classes in grade one of NO.2 middle school in Qinyang city,Gansu province.Without significantly academic difference,the two classes are arranged as controlled and experimental class randomly.During the implementation of the teaching experiment,English Fun Dubbing is applied to the experimental class while the asking-answering model is used in the controlled one.And Level 1 of spoken English examinations of Public English Test System are employed to measure subjects' spoken English proficiency during the research.The research includes three stages:before the experiment,the implementation of experiment and after the experiment,through which three research approaches are employed,namely,a questionnaire,four oral tests and an interview.Finally,SPSS 18.0 is used to analyze the effectiveness of multimodal teaching modal on spoken proficiency.Through the data analyses and discussions,some major findings are showed as follows:1.students show a positive attitude towards English Fun Dubbing and the awareness of spoken English has enhanced after the teaching experiment;2.Multimodal spoken teaching modal based on English Fun Dubbing can improve students' English spoken proficiency;3.Multimodal spoken teaching modal through English Fun Dubbing can influence students' pronunciation&tone most,compared with language content and language accuracy;4.English Fun Dubbing promotes students' listening skills as well.At last,the paper points out some limitations of this study and offers some implications for relative research as a way of guiding future spoken English teaching.
