The Female Consciousness Exploration In Painting Of Marlene Dumas

With the progress of the times,in the middle and late 20 th century,because of the launch of the feminist movement and the liberation of women's minds in the West,female artists became active in the field of art.In painting,female artists observe and explore their own life and inner world from their own perspective,which made the creation of "female consciousness" receive a lot of attention.Here "Female consciousness" could not be formed suddenly,but be explored fully.When female artists explored themselves,they created paintings different from males' perspective in order to place their own value on art.Marlene Dumas is one of the famous contemporaryfemale artists.The theme of her works is always about women,children and people of color and so on.Through the processing of “self consciousness”,her paintings directly present the problem such as race,gender,religion and reveals the incredible absurdity in the humancivilization that make people familiar and alienated.In this paper,based on the research of the paintings of Dumas,the author exploreshow her paintings reflect the female consciousness,and through the study in her paintings,the authorgains some inspirations about studying painting,and the enlightenment of the contemporary easel paintings.So the paper is divided into four chapters.The first chapter explores the occurrence of feminism and feminine consciousness and illustrates the differences between female paintings and feminist paintings;the second chapter mainly introduces basic experiences and the creation of art;The third chapter is the most valuable because the chapter classifies the creation of Dumas in general and discusses the female consciousness in her works.Based on her different identity attributes;the last chapter obtains enlightenment from the study of Dumas' s painting art.According to the elaboration and discussion,the author can improve an understanding of paintings and build my own painting ideas so as to lay a more solidtheoretical foundation and provide a framework for future works.
