Another Perspective Of The Soviet Union

With the development of the cold war,contain the Soviet Union became the core of national security issues set by the United States government.But the world has just undergone a hot war,and the two sides have avoided fighting between each other as much as possible.In this context,intelligence assessment of politics,economic,military and ideology of the Soviet union and its following countries was very important to the national security strategy of the United States.But in the early years of the cold war,the United States got intelligence of the Soviet union through a variety of agencies,which made the intelligence inaccurate and were often contradictory.Based on making a basic intelligence database,Project Caesar was born.This article will be divided into three parts to introduce and analyze the Project Caesar under the background of using its original file.The first part is the introduction of the American intelligence system and the produce of the Project Caesar,as well as the classification of its research achievement.The second part is the main part of this paper,which involves the core content of the Project's study.Because the range of intelligence in this part is quite wide,and the main target has great randomness,for the convenience of study,this assessment will be divided into two parts.The first part is from the period of late Stalin-times to the transition stage of Malenkov-times,the second part is information analysis of Khrushchev-times.The third part mainly introduces the sources and the reason of error analysis of the project.The source of intelligence has obvious characteristics,such as vast source,complex and has strong comprehensiveness.Lack of information accuracy,the difficulty of identification increased,which caused mistakes and shortcomings of Project Caesar.Anyhow,with a microcosmic point of view,Project Caesar aimed at the Soviet leaders personal,based on the location of the database,reflected the attempt of the United States breaking through the "iron curtain" during the cold war,and provided more possibility to evaluate American foreign policy and Other institutions.From the point of view of history and historical research,the intelligence assessment itself is a group of special historical data,which has important significance for us to understand the history of the Soviet union during this period,and deeper our understanding of the degree that the Central Intelligence Agency learned about the Soviet union.In terms of historical thinking and analysis,Project Caesar provide some new perspectives and new inspiration for the traditional study,which took system as the main reason of the history of the Soviet union,thus can rich achievements,and provides more possibilities for follow-up study.
