Research On Wang Jida's Sculpture

Mr.Wang Jida is one of the outstanding representatives and founders of sculpture creation of Inner Mongolia.In his artistic creation career for more than half a century,he has created a large number of excellent works with extensive themes and multiple styles,which has contributed significant value to the artistic creations of Inner Mongolia and Chinese contemporary sculpture creation.So far,Wang Jida's sculpture creation has been generally divided into four stages: the first stage is the period between his high school and graduate school(1953-1964);the second stage is during his working and living in Inner Mongolia(1966-1982);the third stage is when he resided abroad in the USA(1983-1999);the forth stage is from the new century up to now(2000 till now).His works can be classified into five categories based on theme content and types,which are grassland life,public theme,statues of God,animals and practical sculpture respectively.The artistic characteristics of his creations are mainly reflected in the following three aspects:firstly the nationalcultures and territorial diversity of the themes,secondly the pursuit of dynamics and motion,and thirdly the variety of the forms and styles.This paper studies Mr.Wang Jinda's life experiences and sculpture creations,summarizes his artistic achievement,discusses the theme content,forms and styles,artistic characteristics of his sculpture creations,and his contributions and influences to Inner Mongolia's history of sculpture creation.
