Since the middle of the nineteenth Century, in time of great transform of society, the traditional Chinese sculpture art is declining. Western art was introduced into the east. The French style of sculpture is introduced into China by state-supporting oversea study or go to study abroad at their own expense. More western education method was created in China. In the upsurge of learning from USSR, the sculpture educational system of Soviet Union was introduced to China. This thesis is to research the problem and its significance meaning under the circumstances of taking French and Soviet style system cultural resources and sculpture form into China. What is the mentality, recognition, vision and carving learning base? Eventually what kind of Chinese sculpture features, specific sculpture forms and styles was created by the foreign culture absorption and impact. What is the change of spirit? Even in today’s Chinese figurative sculpture development, what is the significance of the trend? This Thesis is divided into four sections to study modern Chinese sculpture since the early twentieth century in French.Soviet-style system. The article is about 110,000words.Chapter One (Sculpture Enlightenment), analysis of the Chinese ancient tradition of carving art practicing since the mid-nineteenth century in the era of social change in the declining situation and practices conform to the new era of art. This chapter also discusses the modern French art in early 20th century and the college developing status which follows the traditional Classicism of the core. The study has been taken in motivation, instructors, courses and art works of the students studying in France. Also the study has covered the French sculpture system’s establishing, teaching and artistic practice after those students return to work. The study verified that in the era of learning Western art style, the French sculpture system has been introduced into China by overseas students, the conform of MingGuo French sculpture style and the practicing by sculptor has pioneering significance for the development of Chinese modern sculpture.Chapter Two (History Choices), review and carding the source of Russia sculpture system learning from French sculpture system, the origin of realism, realist critique style, the establishing of Soviet socialist realism literary policy, different stages of the evolution of the Soviet sculpture features and to the creation of the monument as the main form of sculpture achievement. In this chapter the another focus is on analysis of Chinese sculptors learned variety of styles and main contents from Soviet sculpture and the specific learning situations of "sculpture Course" by Colin Du Hoff which has significant influence.Chapter Three (Interpretation of Reality), detailed analysis of the early 1950s the establishment of the Soviet education system and the creation of sculpture system which based on French style and plus learning from Soviet, as well as the integration and transformation of the two systems. Through specific case studies of sculpture sculpture try classical heritage sector and nationalization of the application, and in particular the combination of political and sculpture during the revolution. Research in the early 1980s for the full restoration of Soviet-style education system, as well as the characteristics of creative exploration and creation in the 1980s-1990s. The evolution of the concept, demonstration of traditional Chinese classical sculpture on behalf of the French and Soviet-style socialist realism system beyond trends and active exploration constructing a new system.Based on the above three chapters on research, the conclusion of this article has been clearly stated that the introduction of French art, as the methodology with the ancient tradition of Chinese art of grafting Western art and creative teaching provided the initial technical preparation; Soviet faction in France base camp further contributed to the transformation of traditional art on creative ideas and methods of the past ya pleasing, and attached to the ritual of creating a Carpenter for the funeral,in conjunction with the national ideology trans formed into close Contact, subordinated to the national interests of the part of the national grand narrative. In this kind of matrix, the new sculpture art view with the cognitive and observation methods, a new structural form and expression language, are established in the new rules and training mode, which became China sculpture art under the influence of foreign culture through the selective absorption of local artists, in the teaching of sculpture and sculpture in the modern significance.
