| Dahuamiao is one part of Miao people,which lives in central Yunnan.This thesis is based on fieldwork,combined with previous research results and using theories and methods of cultural anthropology,folklore,linguistics and musicology to study the procedure and songs of ceremony of Dahuamiao.This thesis will also generalize and summarize different musical genres in different ceremonies of Dahuamiao and analyse special features of these different genres to show the historic and social significance of the ceremonial songs of Dahuamiao.The first part has an introduction of the background information about Dahuamiao people including the history,living condition and population distribution and a general overview about the previous studies on ceremonial songs of Dahuamiao.The research object and materials and the ways and means for this thesis are also described in this part.The second part is the main part of this thesis.This part includes four chapters.Chapter one defines different ceremonial songs and gives a brief introduction of Miao language.Chapter two summarizes general characteristic of ceremonial songs of Dahuamiao and classifies them as religious songs,old songs and traditional songs.The concrete operations and purpose of different ceremonial songs of Dahuamiao will also be discussed in this chapter.Chapter three will analyze the pattern of manifestation about ceremonial songs of Dahuamiao and elaborate musical cultural characteristics of these ceremonial songs.The social functions and aesthetic consciousness of ceremonial songs of Dahuamiao will be discussed in Chapter four.The last part is a brief conclusion.The value and significance of analyzing ceremonial songs of Dahuamiao will be mentioned in this part.Ceremonial songs and dances constitute the integrity and standardization of ceremonies.Ceremonies as the background reveals the truth of nature,society,history and life vividly.The ceremonial songs of Dahuamiao has a function of cognition.Ceremonial songs face the world,recreate life and expound the philosophy so as to reflect its own unique charm. |
