Time-honored brands are the high-value brands which have passed the test of time.They not only reflect the deep cultural essence but also have important value for historical research.They are an important part of China's brilliant history.With the fast economic development,many time-honored brands have lost their vitality and even disappeared.Among the numerous researches into time-honored brands in China,most of them have been conducted from the angle of economic development and seldom involved the enterprise image of those brands,especially the spatial visual recognition of enterprise image(Store Identity).Judging from the current market status,the spatial visual recognition is vital to the development of an enterprise.Therefore,this paper is devoted to researching SI design and also ends with the example of Beijing Daoxiangcun which is a time-honored food store in Beijing.The comprehensive research methods,namely literature review,interdisciplinary research,case analysis and field survey,have been adopted.As to the literature analysis,this paper has reviewed the research status and SI design of the time-honored brands.By means of interdisciplinary research,this paper has solved the tricky problems related to the comprehensive,general and complicated enterprise image.The similarity and dissimilarity between different disciplines have been identified.Different research ideas have been adopted for different disciplines so as to facilitate the research.By means of case analysis,this paper has analyzed the rationality and meaning of SI design,thus laying foundation for the practice at the end of the research.The field survey has been conducted to survey the current status of Beijing Daoxiangcun and relevant time-honored brands.It can not only provide relatively reliable data but also offer relative basis for the design practice.This paper consists of four chapters.As the introduction,the first chapter has discussed the research background,research objective and research methods.The second chapter is concerned with the development of time-honored food stores in Beijing,mainly include the existing number,value and construction means of the time-honored food stores in Beijing.The third chapter is devoted to the basic introduction and application of SI design.At present,the application of SI design to time-honored brands is still quite limited.Therefore,this paper begins with the case analysis of SI design in different industries,such as KFC,IKEA and Weiduomei,and also makes attempts to apply SI design to time-honored brands.In the end,it will become a means of facilitating the development of time-honored brands.The fourth chapter is the practice of SI design.Starting with the market survey of Beijing Daoxiangcun,this chapter has determined the theme and also made the practice of SI design for the brand.
