Since reform and opening up,Chinese government has gradually encouraged population mobility.Many migrant workers rushed into urban areas,which accelerates the process of urbanization.Nonetheless,the policy might be proven to be a two-edged sword,also bringing about a series of social problems: the dilemma that these workers fail to adapt to urban life.Nowadays,the migrant workers are the main force for the skyscrapers in cities so they might seek for opportunitiesto make their living with low wage.The translation report based on a short story kiss on Changan Street written by Xia Tianmin from Zhaotong city.The short story depicted Jiang Yibin,a migrant worker who was persistent in his life dream: kiss on Changan Street with his girlfriend Liu Cui.The report discussed the difficulties in translation with the guidance of George Steiner's hermeneutic theory.Besides,the translator hopes that the society and the government can be much concerned about the migrant workers in the future.The report is divided into four parts: the first part consists of the source text and translated text of Kiss on Changan Street;the second part is preparation stage,including: the introduction to this work and the translation process;the third part,the most crucial part of the whole report,analyzes the translated text with some specific examples,according to George Steiner's hermeneutic theory: trust,aggression,incorporation and compensation;the last part is translation summary,including: the experience from the translation practice and unsolved problems.
