Optimistic bias is a common cognitive bias in human cognition.Optimistic bias refers to the phenomenon that individuals tend to think that they are more likely to experience positive events and others are more likely to experience negative events. The psychological production mechanism of optimistic bias can be divided into two kinds: motivation mechanism and cognitive mechanism. The theory of motivation holds that self-promotion leads to optimistic bias effect, cognitive theory thought the optimistic is caused by self-centeredness and focus doctrine. The neural mechanisms associated with positive bias are closely related to the amygdala, the anterior cingulate gyrus, and the prefrontal cortex and the dopaminergic nervous system. The measurement of optimistic bias is usually in the form of a scale, with direct comparison and indirect comparison, among which the indirect comparison method is a measurement method that is more sensitive and stable to the optimistic bias.Positive bias is mainly influenced by case characteristics and the individual factors, individual factors of them are optimistic bias is very important a factor, individual factors such as individual events of the past experience, individual stereotypes of events and certain personality characteristics of the individual's emotional state and the individual, temperament and character, could also affect the optimism bias.As a kind of cognitive phenomenon, the positive deviation is a kind of cognitive phenomenon, and it is worth exploring in this study.Through studying the influence of college students' self-esteem on optimistic bias, conclusions as following:(1)There is an optimistic bias in the overall judgment of college students on future things. And the level of optimism about a negative event is greater than the level of optimism about positive events, suggesting that individuals are more likely to believe that "bad things don't happen to them".(2)Positive bias has no difference in the gender and the grade.(3)In positive events, the whole of self-esteem is positively correlated with positive deviation. In other words, the higher the level of self-esteem,the higher thelikelihood of positive events, and the negative relationship between self-esteem and optimism in negative events, that is,the higher the level of self-esteem,the lower the likelihood that negative events will occur.(4)In general events, individual self-esteem has no effect on the positive bias.(5)The positive biases of high self-esteem individuals are significantly higher than those of low self-esteem individuals, especially in the judgment of self-esteem-specific negative events, while those with high self-esteem have the highest optimism to the specific negative events of self-esteem,while those with low self-esteem have the least optimism to the specific negative events of self-esteem.
