Pupils' limited time to learn English in class,the limitations of parents and teachers' guideline determine that extracurricular English self-study activities are the key to improve the English learning ability of pupils.However,the parents' expectation has led to "efficient" teaching mode in process of primary English teaching,which has limited the development of self-learning ability of pupils in extracurricular English.Through the questionnaire survey of S District in X City,we found that though the proportion of pupils attending extracurricular English classes is high and the self-learning consciousness of pupils increases gradually,extracurricular learning focuses on classroom teaching and initiative to solve the problem is not strong.Through in-depth data collation and analysis,it is found that there are some problems in pupils' self-learning of extracurricular English: lacking the space to improve the self-learning ability of extracurricular English;weak awareness and motivation of extracurricular English self-learning;pupils need to upgrade their extracurricular English self-learning ability.To improve the ability of pupils to learn English in extracurricular activities,we must make efforts in the following aspects: let pupils experience the process and learn the methods in the classroom teaching;change cognition and build the space that self-learning of the pupils in extracurricular English;let the pupils build confidence and improve self-learning ability through the self-learning practice of pupils in extracurricular English.
