Different interpreters may use different styles to convey the same meaning because of their different preferences and knowledge background.Such differences may influence the interpreting quality. Therefore, the thesis examines if there are any differences in interpreters' styles and the relevance of style to the quality of Chinese-English consecutive interpreting. In the thesis, the author bases the quantitative method on Chen Yumin's quantitative research method and picks out the style features in interpreting rather than translation to conduct the quantitative and qualitative analysis. In the process,an adapted quantitative analytical system is used to evaluate the styles of interpreters. At the same time, the author puts forward a set of criteria to assess the interpreting quality by synthesizing the assessment systems used most around the world. The experimental material adopted is excerpted from President Xi Jinping's speech at the opening of the Belt and Road Forum.Participants of the study are 5 final-year MTI students at China Foreign Affairs University.According to the research results, the author concludes that there is a correlation between interpreter' style and interpreting quality.Specific stylistic factors that affect the interpreting quality are identified, and strategies are proposed to improve the interpreting quality.
