From international recognition in July 1954 to the demise in April 1975,the South Vietnamese regime has become a passer-by in the history of Vietnam.Over 20 years, the existence and change of the South Vietnamese regime are closely related to the Cold War policy of the United States in Asia, especially Southeast Asia. The United States has taken South Vietnam as the frontier for the containment of communism in Southeast Asia, vigorously supported the South Vietnamese regime, and comprehensively intervened in South Vietnam about the areas of political, economic, national security and so on.Actually, the establishment and destruction of the South Vietnamese regime is a history of political evolution under American interference. This article tries to systematically clarify the history of American intervention and the evolution of South Vietnam politics. The full article consists of four chapters. The first chapter is the background of the full text, outlining the French invasion of Vietnam since modern times, through the signing of a series of treaties to establish colonial rule and its subsequent domination policies, these policies on Vietnamese society and Vietnamundefineds resistance; After World War II,France attempted to re-establish the colonial rule of Vietnam, which caused the resistance of the Vietnamese people. The two sides broke out a war conflict until the 1954 Geneva Conference, when the South Vietnamese regime won international recognition at the 1954 Geneva Conference. The second chapter discusses the rise of Wu Ting-yan and his family, especially the character of Wu Ting-yan,the idea of governing the country and his early political activities.Supported by the United States,Wu Tingyan sent a large number of Catholics south to consolidate their ruling base and push out France and its proxy powers. At the same time, the gang forces in South Vietnamese society were eliminated, the presidential election was held in 1955,the dictatorship political system of Wu Tingyan was established, and with the aid of the United States, the South Vietnamese government forces were given more training to enhance their combat effectiveness. The third chapter explains that the dark rule of Wu Ting-yan regime arouses resistance in South Vietnam, and a large number of anti-government forces appear,so the United States and Wu jointly suppress the anti-government activities of the Communist Party of South Vietnam. On the other hand, due to the deterioration of the political situation in South Vietnam, especially the Buddhist crisis in 1963,the relationship between the United States and Wu deteriorated, finally the United States supported the South Vietnamese soldiers to overthrow the Wu regime.Chapter four discusses that after Wu Ting-yan stepped down, the political situation in South Vietnam changed hands several times. The United States is also at a loss about the politics of South Vietnam.Due to the great investment of the United States in the Vietnam battlefield, the domestic and international factors are constantly changing. After negotiations with North Vietnam, the Paris Agreement was signed in 1973,the United States withdrew its troops, and the Vietnam War ended. Two years later,South Vietnam was defeated by North Vietnam and Vietnam United. From the beginning, the foundation of the political power in South Vietnam was relatively weak.In addition, the autocratic rule of the Wu Tingyan family would inevitably lead to the accumulation of social contradictions in South Vietnam. The outbreak of the Buddhist crisis in 1963 became a trigger for all social contradictions in the society of South Vietnam. The regime of Wu Ting-yan was overthrown by its own army. After the ouster of Wu Ting-yan undefineds regime, the political situation in South Vietnam became even more chaotic, and the ruling circles only fought for power and profit, completely ignoring external threats and social reforms, which made the people more dissatisfied, and virtually pushed the people to the North Vietnamese side.In the special period of the Cold War,South Vietnam existed briefly for more than 20 years in history, which to some extent reflected the local conflicts of the great powers in the Cold War period. In this process, the United States gave great help to the South Vietnamese regime, without American support,South Vietnam is very difficult to sustain for a long time.At the same time,it is full of many contradictions, including the conflicts between the US and South Vietnamese regimes and the Soviet Union,China and North Vietnam, and between the United States and the rulers of South Vietnam. The United States regards South Vietnam as a democratic testing ground and exports what the United States considers to be an advanced democratic political system. However, because of its own national conditions,it is not suitable for the democratic system advocated by the United States,so the road of political development in South Vietnam is very tortuous.
