Abstract/Summary:
In the following thesis, arguments for and against the United States intervention and issues of the Vietnam War are presented. Conclusions drawn are based on past and present research. The moral and strategic reasons for the intervention by the United States are analyzed. Questions arise about why the United States government found it necessary to promote a non-violent and non-totalitarian alternative to communist regimes. The impact of the United States position of national security interest is explored, including the economic pressures the government endured due to the war and the bureaucratical pressures the government faced in Vietnam. American historians and scholars have made conclusions based on personal views and research information. Involved parties have come forward and admitted to certain downfalls in weakness and in reasoning. The validity of the United States presence in the Vietnam conflict will be forever debated. Further studies are being examined, and perhaps, the truth about America's involvement in Vietnam will be completely revealed.
