In the past 10 years,private senior high schools in HuLunBeier have developed very quickly,but the quality of teaching and learning is not high,especially in English.Although English writing is a skill relatively more difficult to acquire than the other three skills,it can well reflect a student's general learning aggregation.Task-based Language Teaching Approach(TBLT)has been widely used in English writing classes since the implementation of the new curriculum.But how to create suitable situations for TBLT in English writing class is still a problem.The aim of this paper is to testify whether the TBLT can improve students' learning effectiveness of English writing in Senior One in private high school.This research mainly explores the following two questions: 1.Can the TBLT arouse students' interest in English writing in Senior One? 2.Can TBLT improve students' score in English writing test in Senior One?The research subjects are 100 students from two parallel classes in Grade 1 of a private senior high school.Class 1 is an experimental class(EC),while Class 3 is a control class(CC).In EC,TBLT was adopted.In CC,Product Teaching approach was applied.This study lasts for ten weeks.There are three experimental tools used in this study: test,interview and questionnaire.Before the study,I analyzed English writing scores of last monthly exam,then handed out the pre-questionnaires todecide whether these two classes could be chosen for this study.After the study,the students in EC and CC were tested again in English writing,but I only distributed post-questionnaire to EC,and did a post-interview in EC to understand students' attitudes,learning styles,class situation,achievements and so on.Collected data was analyzed by SPSS 17.0.The results of analysis show that TBLT can not only arouses students' interest,but improve students' score in English writing as well.
