As one of the Chinese ancient instruments with the longest history,Guqin has a very high historical place and has a special connection with those scholars in ancient China.Wei Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasties are an important developing period for Guqin.During this period,Guqin went down to the populace,and became the most important symbol of spirit for scholars at that time.The scholars also brought Guqin into their poems.So that is why Guqin appears in most poems of these dynasties.Guqin,which is historically valuable,makes the poems colorful.It is an essential set of historical data to do research on the art itself,scholars’ lifestyle,and scholars’ spirits and belief.The thesis is a research on Guqin poems during Wei Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasties,based on a book called “The pre-Qin Period,Han and Wei Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasties Poems”.Deep analysis has been conducted for Guqin,trying to build up a connection between ancient scholars and Guqin.This thesis will also talk about the background of the poems and the reason for the appearance of this kind of poems.It is a significant condition to separate Guqin with Se which made it be a favorite musical instrument and an essential flag of emotion expression.This paper summarizes four main ideas from two hundreds of Wei Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasties Poems which clearly reflect living conditions and inner worlds of poets—talking out depressed feelings.Moreover,categorization of female image appeared in the Dynasties.Qin became an significant symbol in poetry which be used to express feelings of loneliness,hidden bitterness and missing by women,so writing pattern of the beauty playing the Qin formed.During this time,Guqin poems creation by female poet and the description of geisha playing Qin in poetry provided references for Qin evolution from politics to a recreational instrument.Influences and valued of these poems are also mentioned at the end of the thesis,and it is very clear to see that the historical place of these poems are affimed.
