Oral evaluation is the most direct, the most rapid, and the most frequently used evaluation in the class.Incentive,as an important means, arouses the enthusiasm of students and promotes students' active learning. To cultivate students' learning interests and promote students' learning, teachers always use incentive oral evaluation in class.Scholars at home and abroad have done too much research in terms of oral evaluation, but this study mainly aims at English class in primary school Grade 5 and Grade 6.The study is guided by three research questions: What are the existing problems of teachers' incentive oral evaluation in object and content? What effects does incentive oral evaluation have on students' English learning? What measures can we take to solve the existing problems? This study takes XFLS as an example and it takes188 students and four English teachers in Grade 5 and 6 as research objects, based on Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs theory and Expectancy theory,by means of questionnaire, interview and classroom observation, this paper makes a detailed study on the basis of the research questions. The research shows that there are two problems in teachers' incentive oral evaluation.First of all, evaluation object mainly focuses on the top students and the students individual;in addition, evaluation content mainly focuses on the evaluationof the students' learning, and the evaluation content is single and it's not specific. And incentive oral evaluation can facilitate students' learning. In view of the problems, this paper suggests teachers do not abuse incentive oral evaluation;teaches should use praise and criticism properly;teachers should use hierarchical incentive oral evaluation to different students and expand the content of incentive oral evaluation.
