From the perspective of the history of thought,Classical Classics and Confucian Classics are ancient orthodox academics, which are acknowledged as the origins of ancient Chinese thoughts.Philosophy,as a loan word,is intersecting but not overlapping to Confucian classics. Therefore, the study of philosophy cannot substitute for the study of Confucian classics. With the compilation of The Collections of Wu Tinghan, the study of Wu Tinghan's philosophical thoughts has gradually matured so far, although the discussion of Wu Tinghan's literary and classical thoughts, especially the relationship between the classics and literature,is still in its infancy. It can be seen that there is an extremely close relationship between Wu's literary theory and the study of Confucian classics. On the other words, his literary views directly originated from his Confucian classics. This thesis focuses on Wu Tinghan's classics, prose and poetry, takes the influence of the study of literature on literature as the main line so as to explore the achievements and features of Wu Tinghan's literary creation. In his early years,he was inspired by the idea of The Great Learning and The Doctrine of the Mean and became acquainted with the intentions of the Four Books and Five Classics.Afterwards,he was enrolled in the official ranks through the imperial examinations. He firmly upheld the Confucianism and law and always fight against crafty sycophant which lead to his exile for four times in more than a decade.Besides,he was infected with the disease, which entangled with all his lifetime. In addition,in the middle of the Ming Dynasty, imperial court began to decline, and the prosperity was replaced with the intensification of social contradictions, manifesting itself in chaos within the political power and continuous local turmoil. Therefore, the ruler's control over social thoughts tends to relax at this time which inreturn has promoted the flourishing development of literature and academia. In the study of Confucian classics, the anti-Somanic trend of thought constantly advanced, gradually breaking the dominate position of Cheng Zhu academic as the official academic in the world, and breeding the minds and textual studies,so on and so forth.,opened up another way of thinking about ways as well.As for literature,a total of seven scholars have successively presided over the literary world, advocating the teaching of “Writing must follow Qin Dynasty and Han Dynasty;poetry should learn from Tang Dynasty”.In terms of techniques, those scholars stressed imitation and style in techniques, forming a retro style. These have directly or indirectly become a source of his experience and work on his practice of learning classics and literature. In the area of Confucian classics,Wu dabbled in the Five Classics, although there is not many written works. He had already gained the Confucian classics that has shown a great influence on his literary creation. In the specific interpretation of the classics,Wu was obviously influenced by the changes of the Confucian classics in the middle of the Ming Dynasty. He was skeptical of the sages' understanding of the solution to the past and often broke the idea of the sages.Through simple textual and logical reasoning,he stated his own opinions and voiced no doubt about the writings of saints. On the one hand,he emphasized the individual consciousness and paid close attention to the life of human ontology. He thought that human lust is the righteousness in human nature. Therefore, lust is also a part of heavenly principle, which can be considered as a supreme theory. From another point of view, his viewpoint and value of perception have been reconstructed in the rational and perceptual knowledge.Although the lust has been rationalized by the Tao,this is already a very far-reaching breakthrough. On the other hand, respecting the absolute status of Dao is a direct manifestation of respect for saints.Wu Tinghan's literary concept was greatly affected by his Confucian classics. In the style of prose,he expressed strong reasoning, often through one thing to clarify the perception behind this matter, with few difference with the mainstream of the literary world at that time. The perception of attainment exactly echoed themethodology he taught through the study of the sages' life.Regardless of the retro trend of thought,he did not quite agree with the statement of “Writing must follow Qin Dynasty and Han Dynasty” and opposed the overly-disciplined “Zuo Zhuan” and other articles. He often expressed that directly in the language in his prose and also performed his personality. In the practice of poetry creation,Wu also revealed his resistance to the idea of over-simulation of “poetry should learn from Tang Dynasty”.He advocated temperament feelings as poetry.Under this opinion, his lyric poem represents its highest literary achievement.Inspired by the study of Confucian classics, his poems show a gentle and honest beauty. On the one hand, the expression of emotions is very natural, simple and pure.On the one hand,it is implicit and neutral. In the discussion of above issues, this thesis highlights the relationship between Wu Tinghan's literature and Confucian classics, and his literary creation and the characteristics of his works under the guidance of his Confucian classics, combing out his literary aesthetic preferences and revealing Wu Tinghan's literary works in Ming Dynasty, with the purpose of revealing that Wu Tinghan's identity as a representative of local literature in was of unique value in the history of Ming literature.
