A Rhetorical Study Of The Lyrics Of Liao Songs

Since the existence of The Yue Folk's Song 2,000 years ago,folk song has always been in Zhuang people' s daily production and lives.Liao songs of Zhuang,which is renowned as Sociology Encyclopedia,is widely spread at Pingguo county,Guangxi province.In Zhuang people's heart,Liao songs is a verbal treasure.It is not only an important component of intangible cultural heritage which is passed on by word of mouth,but also a miniature of linguistic,culture and folklore history of Zhuang people.Rhetoric emerged in the process of using language.It is an activity in which people use proper words to express their rich emotions,feelings and ideas.The rhetorical phenomenon of Liao songs is a verbal art form for Zhuang people to convey their feelings and ideas.This paper will study the verbal art performance of Liao songs' lyrics under cultural background of Han people from the perspective of rhetoric,sort out the rhetoric phenomena and rhetoric effects of Liao songs comprehensively on the basis of the connection between linguistic elements and rhetoric,and analyze the context of rhetoric phenomena of Liao songs where they originate from,so as to summarize the characteristics and patterns of Liao songs' verbal activity and further excavate its cultural connotation.This article is divided into six parts:Part I is the introduction which brings forward the research background,purpose and significance of the research.In this part,research objective is determined.After sorting out related documents for the study of Liao songs,the corpus sources and research methods are stated.Part II is the rhetorical explanation of Liao songs in phonetics,vocabulary,syntax and article.Phonetics,vocabulary and syntax are three key elements of language which are inseparable parts of rhetoric.The ways of choosing words and converting them into sentences,and arranging the sentences to compose an article are basic and important use of language.As the first long folk song of Zhuang people,Liao songs has distinctive characteristics in rhetorical methods.Specifically,for phonetics rhetoric,this article will analyze the harmony of phonology and beauty of rhetoric in three aspects of rhyme,lining words and summation tone.For vocabulary rhetoric,this article will examine the lyrics of Liao songs from the angle of the property and meaning of words and explain its simplicity and humorous vocabularyrhetorical effects;for syntax,the article will analyze the whole sentence and dialect,to reveal its warm and natural syntax rhetorical effects with distinctive local characteristics.And for chapter and article rhetoric,the art of composition and techniques of article rhetoric will be studied,in order to show the effect of article rhetoric in making an article in a clear,logical,frequent and harmonious way.Part III is the rhetorical explanation of Liao songs in figure of speech and image.Traditional rhetoric is mainly aimed at studing the usage of figure of speech.Thus it is necessary to investigate the usage of figure of speech,if we are going to study the rhetorical activities of Liao songs.In view of figures of speech,this article will make statistics for the frequency of figures of speech used in Liao songs,and enumerate 8representative and frequently-used figures of speech,including repetition,rhetorical question,metaphor,allegory,antithesis,parallelism,loop and anadiplosis,to further summarize the three characteristics of usage of figures of speech in Liao songs.In addition,after comprehensive and thorough study of rich rhetorical phenomena and patterns in Liao songs as mentioned earlier,the article will classify the images,reveal the rhetorical expressions in Liao songs and further study the profound meaning and verbal arts of Liao songs.Part IV of the article is to analyze the factors of formation of Liao songs' rhetorical activities,i.e.,the context of rhetoric.The contextual factors which may affect Liao songs' rhetorical activities will be discussed from two aspects: external reasons and internal reasons.Part V is to study the cultural characteristics of Liao songs' rhetoric.Language is nationality-distinguished,so is the rhetoric activities in which language materials are chose and processed.The article will interpret the cultural characteristics of rhetorical phenomenon of Liao songs respectively from the perspective of cultural psychology and cultural implication,then reveal the modern cultural significance of Liao songs' rhetoric and thus make a humble contribution for the inheritance of Liao songs.Part VI is the epilogue.From the rhetorical phenomenon of Liao Song,it can be seen from the process of language and art from the reference to the mature creation process.The singer uses the appropriate expression to achieve "the words to the beauty".
