This is a translation report on The Flipped College Classroom(Excerpts from the First Two Chapters),which builds upon the research and ideas that a group of members presented at the 2014 Association for Educational Communications and Technology Conference. The chosen content includes Chapter I The Flipped Classroom: A Brief,Brief History and part of Chapter II Step by Step,Slowly I Flip. The first chapter uses a chronological perspective to examine the pedagogical practice of ―flipping‖ a class, introduces the variations of flipped class models and discusses some common concerns for instructors. The second chapter elaborates the incremental steps of flipping an existing course as well as provides direction on how to create a new flipped course. The translator describes the difficulties she encountered in the translation process on the lexical, syntactic and textual level.According to the three principles of Vemeer’s skopos theory,i.e.the skopos rule, coherence rule, and fidelity rule, the translator flexibly adopts different translation methods to solve these translation difficulties and gives a large number of examples. The final translation is not only faithful to the source text but also achieves the translation purpose.Through this translation practice, the translator puts the theories the she has learned into practice and deepens her understanding of the theories. The report consists of four chapters. The first chapter introduces the background, significance and structure of the translation report.Chapter two analyses the content and features of the source text. The following chapter illustrates how Skopos theory proposed by Vemeer is applied in the translation and describes the difficulties in the translation process as well as their corresponding solutions. The last chapter concludes the lessons and experience the translator gained as well as unsolved problems in the translation process.
