A Report On The Translation Of Chapter 18 Of International Business Law And Its Environment(8th Edition)

This report is written on the basis of translating Chapter 18 of International Business Law and Its Environment(8th edition),which basically focuses on the taking and control of foreign direct investment by the host country.The translation intends to make a contribution to legal education and the construction of China's legal system in the field of international investment law.This report consists of four parts: task description,translation process,case study and conclusion.Guided by the theoretical framework of legal equivalence,the translator specifies the translation from the perspectives of lexical,syntax and textual levels and applies such translation strategies as literal translation,conversion and restructuring.During the process of translation,it is found that the analysis of the text type of the source text plays a crucial role in the selection of translation strategies.The informative and expressive function of the source text should be always taken into consideration and accordingly the translation strategies should be adjusted in compliance with different contexts so as to achieve functional equivalence.
