The economic development benefits from the improvement of the judicial system. With the rapid development of Chinese economy,China has put forward the goal of deepening the reform of judicial system in a comprehensive manner in recent years, and has obtained remarkable achievements, which can be demonstrated by the trial of plea bargaining and exclusionary rules. These progresses result from learning advanced judicial ideas of the western world. In the meanwhile,as there are an increasing number of Chinese enterprises going global,it is necessary for Chinese enterprises to learn relevant laws and regulations and previous cases of other countries, and learn lessons from their predecessors so as to circumvent judicial disputes and protect their legitimate interests.Implicating relevant cases and laws and regulations, judgments can precisely reflect the legal system and culture of a country. The judgment translation,as the conduit of information transfer, plays a significant role in the exchange of judicial ideas. In this translation practice, the author selects a judgment(RALLS CORPORATION V.COMMITTEE ON FOREIGN INVESTMENT IN THE UNITED STATES,ET AL.)made by the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit as the source text.During the translation, the author applies ideas like functional equivalence and legal equivalence, and analyzes the features and difficulties of judgment translation respectively at lexical, syntactic, and discourse level. The translation practice consists of two parts: the first is the preparation before translation, mainly including selection of judgment, analysis of the source text, and selection of similar parallel texts;the second part is to translate the source text and analyze and summarize difficulties and problems met in the process of translation. The author hopes to have a better understanding of features of the judgment of the United States through the translation practice. In the whole translation project, the author summarizes problems met in the translation process and puts forward corresponding solutions in line with translation theories and strategies so as to improve the author's translation ability, offer guidance to the translation of judicial texts, facilitate judicial exchanges, and reduce judicial disputes.
