This is a report of translation on ?National Legislations—How to Adapt to the New Cyberspace?,the fourth chapter of the book Organized Crime,and Societal Responses: International Approaches.The source text is written by a Polish author who mainly discusses the types and definitions of cybercrimes,the problems existing in current legislation in cybercrime field and calls for international cooperation and mutual learning in legislation so as to adapt to the growing threats posed by the changing cyberspace.Due to the changing type of cybercrimes caused by rapid scientific and technological development,the legislation on cyber security in China remains to be perfected.The author hopes that this translation practice can serve as a reference for China to improve the legislation in cybercrime field.This report is divided into four parts.Part one briefly introduces the background of the translation practice,and then analyzes the text type and linguistic features of the source text,coming to a conclusion that the source text is a combination of informative text and expressive text.Part two covers the pre-translation preparation,translation schedule and after-translation quality control.Part three is case study.Under the guidance of Newmark's semantic translation and communicative translation,the author explores such translation methods and strategies as amplification,improvement,restructuring,conversion and omission from lexical,syntactic and textual levels by focusing on problems occurred in the translation process.Part four summarizes major findings and lessons drawn from this translation practice.
