The rapid development of the contemporary economy is propelling society forward. With the continuous changes of modern work patterns and the further investigation of management research, the interactive influences between individual working time and non-working time in the organization gradually enter the researchers' field of vision.Sleeping,as an essential requirement for the survival of human being,is considered to be an important element during non-working period.Numerous theoretical and empirical studies have found that sleeping could significantly affect both employees' mentality and working behavior, such as work satisfaction, motivation and work attitude. However, job performance depends not only on personal abilities and attitudes, but also on the group interaction and cooperation.Interpersonal relationships have an important influence on the outcome of work. Thus, this study has selected sleep quantity and interpersonal conflict within an organization as research variables, which aims to examine the relationship between individual's daily sleeping habit and the frequency of interpersonal conflict occurs in the next day,to explore the underneath mechanism. This study applies longitudinal design,by investigating the daily sleeping time, daily self-depletion and the frequency of interpersonal conflicts at work of the employees by experience sampling method.A total number of 45 employees from different occupations in Shanghai were being observed for two consecutive weeks(10 working days),and the data were statistical processed by descriptive statistical analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis and multilevel linear analysis.According to the result of multilevel linear model analysis, the individual sleep quantity in the previous night has a significant predictive effect on the frequency of interpersonal conflicts of the next day.To be concrete, the individual sleep quantity in the previous night can negatively predict the individual relation conflict, task conflict and process conflict occurred in the next day.Simultaneously, the individual sleep quantity in the previous night also has a remarkable predictive effect on the self-depletion level in the next day. Finally, the results of the study indicated that individual self-depletion level is completely correlated with the relationship between individual daily sleep quantity and interpersonal conflict behavior in the next day. This Study is based on the research design of experience sampling method,by exploring the impacts of previous night's sleep quantity on the work-related outcome variables in the daily life of the employees. From the results of this study, although sleep occurs during the non-working period,it still has a major influence on the work performance of employees in the next day. Therefore, while the employers are paying attention to the performance of employees during their working hours, they should also be aware of the importance of employees' sleeping condition in their work performance.Besides, the study has also proven self-depletion is correlated with sleep and interpersonal conflict, which provides a certain reference value for future research and organization management.
